Srimad Jagadguru Ramanujacharaya Swami Sudarshanacharya Ji Maharaj (GuruMaharaj) was born on the 27th of May 1937 in the state of Rajasthan, district Savai Madhopur, village of Padla. GuruMaharaj was born in a prosperous Brahmin farmer family, and from childhood displayed a great deal of fondness towards serving humanity. He was also a dedicated devotee of Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Narayan, and from a very early age proved to be naturally bestowed with divine ideologies of God. After taking initiation and completing his studies from his Guru, Khatlesh Swami Shri Gobindacharya Ji at the Sanskrit Students Teachers and Scholars School of Bada Khatla,Vrindavan,U.P, GuruMaharaj went on to further his studies of Vedic literature within the Sri Ramanuja tradition.
Following with the teachings of the great saint Tulsidas, GuruMaharaj sacrificed the next 12 years of his life to serve austerities and penances in solitary in the forests of Bhangargh, India. With his selfless undertaking of serving humanity, GuruMaharaj lived these years with the basic necessities and comprehensively studied the holy mantras, Vedic scriptures and Shastras. It was during this time that Lord Narayan granted him the boon of alleviated human suffering and performing other human welfare services for devotees.
GuruMaharaj’s Mission to the World
After returning from the forests, GuruMaharaj began accomplishing his mission and also setting up the Sidhdata ashram in 1989. In 2000 construction of the Shri LakshmiNarayan Divya Dham was completed, and this holy temple has become the spiritual home to millions of devotees from around the world. GuruMaharaj started expounding the teachings of the Sri Ramanuj Sampradaya and continued with his mission of helping devotees. With the spiritual potency gifted to him, millions of devotees’ lives were changed forever when they came to the sacred temple to experience his divinity. Based on one’s level of faith, GuruMaharaj performed countless miracles of fulfilling their material and spiritual desires.
In the presence of the entire Vaishnav community at the Maha Kumbh Mela in 1998, He was nominated by Jagadgurus, Peethadheeshwars, Tridandi Swamis and Acharayas as Indraprastha and Haryana Peethadhiswar Shrimad Jagadguru Ramanujacharya, and head of the Sri Ramanuj Sampradaya. This honourable rank was bestowed on GuruMaharaj on the banks of the river Ganga. Despite the great GuruMaharaj leaving His mortal coil on 22nd May 2007, his divine presence will always be felt and experienced by all his devotees.
